Start your day with a room temperature (or slightly warmer) glass of water with freshly squeezed lemon in it. This should be the first thing you consume and even better to consume it 30 minutes or more before having breakfast.
This will help kickstart the digestion process for the day. It also balances pH Levels. Lemons are one of the most alkalising foods there is! Sure thing, they are acidic on their own, but inside our bodies the chemical reaction changes and they’re alkaline (the citric acid does not create acidity in the body once metabolised).
Lemons contain both citric and ascorbic acid, weak acids easily metabolised from the body allowing the mineral content of lemons to help alkalise the blood. Super cool!
Disease often occurs when the body pH is too acidic. When we are out of balance. Drinking lemon water regularly can help to remove acidity in the body, including acidity (uric acid) in our joints, which is one of the primary causes of pain and inflammation.
This little morning routine will also hydrate your body and your lymph system. Warm water and lemon juice supports the immune system by hydrating and replacing fluids lost by your body. When you are dehydrated you can definitely feel the side effects, which include: lack of energy, feeling tired, decreased immune function, constipation, negative effects on blood pressure, lack of mental clarity and feeling stressed, just to name a few.
